Boston Tea (India) Ltd. began in 1987, when Boston Tea was incorporated and registered as a partnership concern in Mangalore.
In 1993, Boston Tea was converted into a private limited company. In 1997, to support expansion and establish greater flexibility, the company became Boston Tea (India) Ltd.
The founders brought professional experience from multinational companies in the Middle East back to their motherland, choosing tea as the first business under the Boston's brand.

After its first decade in tea, Boston Tea (India) Ltd. expanded into pure and blended spices, followed by coffee powder, pickle, tamarind and other kitchen staples. The catalogue grew from Mangalore into homes across Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, the Middle East and beyond.
